Red, White, and Blue Popcorn

Hi, everyone and welcome. Today I’m over on the Victorine Originals Challenge Blog sharing some inspiration for the new challenge – 4th of July!

I adore this Popcorn Stamp by Victorine Originals, it’s so fun and whimsical. It truly inspired me to create these fun treat bags filled with red, white, and blue popcorn. These bags of popcorn make great gifts for the neighbors, to hand out while watching the fireworks, or a fun addition to your 4th of July party. The recipe is so easy, especially if you cheat a little like I did. 😜

To get us started on this fun adventure first we make treat tags. You can use any tag die-cut, but I used CAS-ual Fridays Tag Buddies Fri-Dies, Victorine Originals Dots Set along with Stampin Up Inks in Real Red and Pacific Point and of course, the star of this post the Popcorn Stamp

Print the sentiment, you can find it below, die-cut tags including the printed sentiments, stamp popcorn randomly on the larger tag, and color. I used COPIC Y11, R29, B12, B28  Now you’re ready to make your popcorn and fill those bags. I used Wilton Favor Bags because they have a cardboard disk that you insert which holds the bags up straight but any goodie bag will do.

So, here’s where I cheated a little. You have two choices: pop the popcorn yourself or buy popcorn already popped. Since I was sending this to work with my hubby I went with the already popped popcorn. I used Cooking Light  Kettle Popcorn and I will be buying more of it, it’s pretty good.

Ingredients/Supplies

  1. Popcorn

  2. White Chocolate (I recommend the good stuff, not the candy coating unless you like that, then hey go for it)

  3. Red, White and Blue M&M’s  (I used Peanut but you use whatever you prefer)

  4. Huge Bowl

  5. Treat Bags

  6. Parchment Paper or Wax

  7. Scissors

Instructions Did you notice there are no measurements? Exactly, make as much as you want to your liking, like lots of chocolate go crazy add 4 bars. No, not your thing, then add 2 bars. Melt chocolate in microwave at 30-second intervals to avoid burning it ( there is nothing nastier than burnt chocolate)

Add popcorn to a HUGE bowl and drizzle some of the white chocolate over the popcorn, toss the popcorn or stirring until lightly coated, spread out on parchment paper, drizzle remaining chocolate over top of popcorn, sprinkle M&M’s while chocolate is still wet.

Now walk away! Yes, go! Okay, one bite but after that walk away!

Let the chocolate harden. Once it’s hardened you can break into pieces and add to bags. Tie bags up with ribbon and attach tags. See, super simple.
